Chambers Street

I passed the statue of William Chambers almost every day on the way to work. It has been removed this week- has it suffered a Lenin type reverse? Has there been a revolt against 19th Century Lord Provosts and publishers? No, the council are making a plaza outside the museum and William has to be moved to make way for a statue of Playfair. I'm not sure of Playfair's connections whereas the actual street is named after Chambers...
The statue has been up since c.1900 so it's quite interesting seeing it coming down after 100+ years. I hope they give the old chap a good polish and put it back correctly and neatly when the work is done.
