Winter Is Here
This morning we woke to a sprinkling of snow and the ground was very icy.
We were expecting a friend for lunch but as she lives in the mountains, we weren't sure if she'd make it over here. The very narrow, single track roads are dangerous without bad weather, with sheer drops down into the icy lochs below. She carries a rucksack and suitable clothing in the back of the car, in case she has to abandon the car and walk home over the mountains. She's an incredible lady, that I admire greatly.
We don't have a landline here and no mobile reception, so I was pleased when I looked out of the window and saw her car. I'd spent the morning incinerating cooking a vegetarian lunch, using recipes from my latest cookery book. The cooker is very dodgy, so it was slightly overdone in places but it all got eaten.
I've been taking photos of the beautiful birds visiting the feeders but the large bag of seed we bought, has almost gone. There are a large variety here including the Coal Tit, Bullfinch and Redwing, which are rare visitors to our garden down south. I was spoilt for choice but I liked how this Chaffinch appears to be listening to something.
Just rounded the evening off with a slice of G's delicious cake :-)
