Flying high

We took Mum for her Christmas present today.....indoor skydiving.

She's been so excited ever since we have her the voucher on Christmas Day, I don't think there's a person within the Accrington and surrounding district who she hasn't told about it....and that's before she went!

I got an email from her yesterday thanking me for taking her back to her childhood, and when I picked her up today, she said she'd hardly slept due to excitement.

Due to her hearing and visual impairments, I went into the briefing session with her, just to make sure she understood everything ok, and to make sure the instructor was aware that she needed to lip read.

Out of the 10 people in the group, Mum was the eldest and never stopped smiling from start to finish. Some of them looked terrified and Mum said a couple almost chickened out.

She got two flights, each were just a minute long and on the second one there was the option to 'go high', which involved being whirled up to the top of the wind tunnel with the instructor. Absolutely no hesitation from Mum, it was a resounding 'yes please'!

Sadly, it was all over too soon so as a consolation and to miss horrendous tea time traffic, we called at the Trafford Centre for tea.

It looked such a good experience and I may well have a go myself at some point, but today was for Mum so I didn't want to take the shine off that.

This was certainly money well spent and something Mum will remember for years to come.

We've both taken photos and videos, which Mr A can make into a DVD for her; we could have bought one there but the quality (& framing) was poor trust Mr A to spot that! and it was of the whole group. Ours will just be of Mum.

Photo wise, it was hard to choose due to blurring and the fact that the viewing screen was scratched and marked, so not the best quality, but there's no mistaking that happy grin!
