Lavatera in the rain

I enjoy close up photography as it has an ere of excitement by allowing one to see the minute detail that nature does not let us see with the naked eye. We have had a cold wet day today and it was like Winter, this Lavatera was holding the moisture it captured today. I stopped in to see Sid today and he is as stated in my first sentence of the Link the Luckiest Unlucky bastard alive. Sid was medically retired 2 weeks before the end of his Chemo in November, the chemo caused the nerves in his feet to cause issues with feeling and circulation. In December he was out enjoying himself, his name was called and he turned and his feet never supported him and he fell harpooning himself on a Bamboo Stake which penetrated his Right Axillary Area travelling up through to the left side of his body perforating his neck and sticking out by 20cm. Sid had major surgery including Cardiothoracic and had a major blood transfusion. While waiting for the Cardiothoracic Surgeon the other surgeon had pulled the stake out not realising his Jugular had been compromised causing major blood loss. Sid told me he could feel his head being pulled from one side to the other when he come round it was the Nurses shaving his goatee off to prevent infection in the wound in his chest ( Sid is now a formal member of the Zipper Club). A pessimist would say Sid was unlucky and Sid the Optimist says he's lucky. I only wanted to see how his Christmas went, well he got a damn good Christmas Present.... His Life.
