A Long Shot
Today is the first day that I have been out with the new camera that I have bought for use while my Nikon Df is being repaired. I am both very depressed and delighted with its performance. It seems to do things off of its own bat, which I do not want it to do, so I do not have proper control over it and despite having read the manual, I have obviously missed quite a lot; for example it takes five pictures every time I press the button and even in bright daylight insists that I have the flash operating. I am not aware of changing any settings since it was functioning exactly as I wanted it to do, but I obviously have. Regarding the good points it has a very substantial zoom ratio, a reasonably good wide-angle facility and although it pictures are much noisier than those from the Df, under similar conditions, it can take pictures that I could not take successfully with the Df. Today’s picture is one of these, it is of a man walking his dog approximately 100 yards away from where we were taking our photos, I used maximum zoom and was hand holding the camera with no additional support, this picture is exactly as it came from the camera, with no cropping or alteration of any kind. I certainly could not do that with my Nikon even with a 500mm lens, even if I was using a tripod!
