The St Saviours Spirit
Tomorrow is the St Saviours Church Revel, our Summer Fete. It's a fantastic traditional fair with all the normal stalls.
And all under threat due to the forcast torrential rain.
Faced this evening with the church warden on the doorstep with the statement "we either cancel the Revel or move it", we went for the latter.
So we decided to move all the stalls across the road from our normal field, into church.
So picture trestle tables laid across the pews, the Salvation Army band playing in the Lady Chapel, icecreams being sold (Le Hechet Farm icecream no less) where the hymnbooks are normally given out, the bric a brac round the font and hopefully a small bouncy castle up by the high altar.
I think the angels might be watching from heaven with smiles on their faces.
And to add to all this, we decided we hadn't got enough room. So we picked up two of the marquees, carried them across the field, through the gate and down the road and man-handled them over the church wall and through the graveyard to their new site, next to church.
Cancel? No chance!
