Wot, no fish?

This isn't an ornamental bird, but I thought it was at first. There used to be a bronze bird just like it in the pool but it's been missing (stolen?) for ages. Plus, I thought it was odd that the statue wasn't covered by the tarp (I don't know why the pond is covered – to help the fish hibernate or stop them being eaten by young herons?)

What tickled me was that loads of people were just walking by the youngster in Embankment Gardens without even noticing him. It's not every day you see a young heron perched on some tarp hoping that no one will see that he's landed on a covered pond.

Saw a white-tipped fox in the garden today – a possible Skinny sighting (see extra pic).
