The First Record....

...that I ever bought was a 45rpm vinyl single from a shop in Bread Street, Edinburgh. That record was "The Jean Genie" by David Bowie. I couldn't find that one among my dusty collection of 45's but there were two Bowie LP's from the early 70's. 

I think the reissued "David Bowie/Space Oddity" belonged to one of my sisters but I found the copy of Ziggy Stardust in a bus stop. Being young and honest (and under parental duress) I reluctantly handed my find in to the police lost and found with very low expectations of seeing it again. But it was not claimed and it was returned to my safe keeping and a permanent spot in my record collection.
