Requiem

Late out with Pip this afternoon to the waterlogged fields, just enough light to capture these swans. Spent most of the morning working on a blog on David Bowie. He's one of the truly great artists to emerge in the UK and deserves the many tributes and obituaries that will be coming his way. While I have no issues with leading the BBC evening news with his death, I thought 20 minutes was 10 minutes too long, unbalancing coverage when there are children starving in Madaya and when a tribute programme would be screened an hour later. But, as one friend said on Facebook, "Why didn't you blog on Madaya then? Overkill or not, I do think his contribution to the arts will be lasting. Sad that he's gone but not nearly the same shock as learning of John Lennon's untimely death. Time will allow a better perspective.
