Hydrangea
Fate the lacemaker, implacably at work holding the cushion of our lives between her knees and stuffing it with pins.
This quote from Jean Cocteau’s “Les Enfants Terrible” has stayed in my head since I read the book in my twenties. I don’t remember anything else about the book except this powerful line which, to me, seemed to sum up the nature of our lives.
This hydrangea brought the quote back to mind.
