Birdy, birdy...

Coming back from the daily perambulation around the village - bit wet, boggy in places - I came back to share a bit of toast on the patio with our friendly blackbird. There were about twenty odd goldfinches making mess with the niger seed feeder and I thought I'd grab a camera. 

The 7D was closest to hand but in picking it up I spooked most of the goldfinches. So I was shooting the blackbird with the toast and almost missed this fellow who was happily scoffing peanuts in front of me. 

Grey light and glazing have added a bit of noise to the shot, but I was so chuffed to have got it at all. Of course, when I came downstairs having offloaded the photos and having left the camera on my desk, the goldfinches were back! Hey ho.
