Pokeno ice cream

A very pleasant drive into Auckland today and was pleased to be able to pop in to visit B on the way through :)

I've heard befor about the 'famous' Pokeno ice cream parlour south of the Bombay hills but with the 'new' motorway that whisks people out of Auckland by-passing Pokeno I've never actually been there.  That changed today - a quick detour to the village and a scrumptious, large double scoop was quickly melting in the heat all over my hand.  Mmmmm-mmmmm!

Drove on having decided to seek out the only DoC campsite in the area at Lake Arapuni.  Haha!  Arrived very late after following the route directions along increasingly narrow and windier roads.....tracks!  A very odd feeling at the campsite......definitely had the feeling I was the odd one out and everyone else who was there was part of the 'community'.
