Last Night In London
Tonight we splurged on dinner in the Portrait Restaurant on the 3rd floor of the National Portrait Gallery in London which has spectacular views of the London Eye and the skyline, and we were lucky enough to get a window table!
I had a great meal of smoked salmon and then cod, and then we had to find our way out of a closed gallery. It was all a bit "Night at the Museum"!
There was one last treat when we got back to the hotel, a fashion show afterparty and a people watchers paradise. There were towering models who looked 14, a designer in a blue lame indian outfit who we called "The Maharaja", the slimy guy in a suit who I bumped into at the bar and who waved a cucumber in front of me and asked what I thought he should do with it. I told him I was too polite to say. He spent ages trying to chat up the models until his severe looking wife showed up. There was another designer with clothes pegs in her hair, and an old man trying to look young and relevant who everyone was fawning over. It was fascinating.
