Little Auk

I walked along to Scapa via Crantit Trail, where I saw a chiffchaff, a little grebe and a peregrine. At Scapa, yesterday's huge number of birds was much depleted but still plenty of little auk. Several people were looking for yesterday's Brunnich's auk but it did not seem to be around, though it may have been spotted far out in the bay. One bird of note was a Kumlien's gull- a sort of Iceland gull.I stayed for quite a while, then returned after a break and warm-up at home. I set up my little scope and almost immediately saw the Brunnlich's far out in the bay but it did not stay in view for long. On the beach in failing light were 39 bar-tailed godwits.
