The Battle of Jersey 1781
Thank you so much for all your lovely comments hearts and stars for my cockerel yesterday. He made it to the front page of popular! Cheers!!
Went into town for a birthday lunch with my oldest friend to Pizza Express and to collect a book from Waterstones. Unfortunately the book wasn't there so I've ordered it again and will have to go back again next week.
The square was very busy with a re-enactment to commemorate the Battle of Jersey in 1781. It was not only the last battle on Jersey soil, but the last on British soil. Celebrations have been intermittent, concentrating on major anniversaries, until relatively recently, when there has been a revived interest. the group who do the re-enactments are called the 1781 Jersey Militia and you can find out more about them on their website here. There are a couple more on extras too.
