Clocked off

On the outskirts of the village where l live there is a former mill.
Soon it is to be redeveloped into 92 apartments.
I pass here regularly on my riverside walk and often look at the old clock which stands still at 5 o'clock.
Today l ventured nearer and was fortunate enough to be able to climb one floor of the iron fire escape to take this shot of the inside of the clock, showing some of its original workings still intact.
I was surprised not to see the hands telling the time in reverse.
I wonder how many workers looked at this clock every day when they clocked on and off?
