Gainsborough's house
I was in Sudbury today and decided to visit Gainsborough's house. We had three family members who were members of the Royal Academy in the nineteenth century. The family story is that they were descended from Sir Joshua Reynolds, Gainsborough's contemporary and rival. The house had a 'painter's room' (studio) set up as it would have been. It contained Reynolds' sitter's chair and easel. It was good to see his works in an intimate setting.
