My Brilliant Friend

Book group tonight - I just about finished this Elena Ferrante novel in time! It's a vivid evocation of growing up in 1950s Naples - in all it's gritty, vendetta-ridden poverty. Her depiction of the intensity of teenage friendship is gripping - I'm just going to have to read the other three books in the series now!
