Ooh, we have enjoyed Perpignan. Some friends of ours used to come here for writing retreats a few years ago, and their stories were all I had to go on when deciding to pick this as a stopping off point in France. They related that it was a cool city, where one could eat and live well.

How true. Our wanders across the city from breakfast at the Cafe de la Paix to morning coffee at the Cafe Tanger overlooking the market on the Place Cassanyes to lunch at Le Figuier (a Catalan restaurant) to evening drinks in the Place de la Republique have been extremely pleasant, and very photogenic. And warm. This is pretty much the end of our traversing of Europe and it was important to go out on a high note.
