A bright end to a dreary day
It had rained heavily here all night and most of the morning. The garden is either under water or ,at best very boggy. Nothing like the problems in Cumbria, Scotland and the north generally, thankfully, but still very unpleasant. It was not improved when the toilets started to gurgle. We don't have mains drainage, a large septic tank provides all our needs. When there is a lot of rain in a short period it can fill up with water draining from the garden, causing the gurgle. So I was out in the garden sorting this out during the tail end of the rainstorm. It is not the best way of finding out your old wellies are no longer waterproof nor how much your fingers dislike the cold and wet.. So it was finally sorted, I was in, dried off, changed with a warm cup of coffee by early afternoon. (slight doze as well maybe). I saw a possible blip as the sun broke out from under the cloud cover so off over the field to get a shot or 50. I returned to be told the gurgle had also come back. The surplus garden water simply filled up the space I had made earlier. So out again, no surprise this time regarding wellies, and repeated the operation, ending in torchlight. The forecast is dry for tonight so hopefully now back to normal.
Tonight's meal was beef stew with dauphinois potatoes and mixed beans. Now that's a good end to the day, thank you W1
