Payback Time
Arthur and I had such a good time in England that I guess we had to pay for it with a dose of crap. Here is where it started. Beijing.
Things started well enough. We were only five minutes late landing. There was no smog, unlike when we landed for the flight to England. Unfortunately, it took us so long to get through the security check that we missed our connecting flight to Osaka.
Arthur and I were fobbed us by about six different disobliging staff who would fob us off with the vaguest directions as to which office we would need to visit next in order to book a new flight. In such a massive airport, this inevitably led to Arthur and I becoming lost several times.
We eventually booked a flight for 0840 the next morning, so we spent the night in an airport coffee shop. I stayed awake all night reading because I didn't want any of our luggage to be stolen. Arthur managed to get a couple of hours' sleep, at least. I tried to send Kazuko an email to let her know why we would not be home tonight but the airport's wi-fi was not working and my 3G device was in my suitcase. I bought a telephone card but was not able to get a connection for some reason.
No problems with catching the 0840 flight, but my suitcase - along with the luggage of about six other passengers on that flight - never made it to Kansai Airport.
What Have I Done To Deserve This?
