my city

The heart beat blip on this flat line horizon is Perth, and the weather that had started to cloud on that horizon has finally arrived in lovely, soft rain.

Prior to first European contact in 1827, this area had been inhabited for 40,000 years by the Noongar Aboriginal people and where Perth city now stands the area was known as Boorloo.

Proclaimed as the administrative centre of the Swan River Colony in 1829, it has had a bit of a 'country town' label over the years.
In 1962 it flashed into life as the 'City of Lights' when house and street lights where switched on for John Glenn's space flight.
Last year it ranked equal 8th place in The Economist's list as one of the world's most 'livable' cities.
AND! for the next two years the Art gallery will host six exhibitions of works from MOMA, starting with the current exhibition from Picasso to Warhol.

And there's lots in between!
