'Rainforest Walk'
Backblip.
Today we booked a boat trip down the Pieman River on the historic Arcadia II to Pieman Heads. We left the dock at 10am and headed west down the river. Captain Dale was very informative and passionate about the area. He knew the names of all the trees in this ancient rainforest and pointed out everything of interest along the way. His first mate Richard offered everyone tea, coffee and a delicious carrot cake throughout the journey. We tied up at the Pieman Heads pier at around 11:30am and everyone on board was given a paper bag with some lunch in it. We were free to explore this area as we pleased and be back at the boat by 1pm. A fascinating and rugged area which is occupied by some redneck type locals who holiday there in their makeshift shacks with their motor bikes and dune buggies. As we we walking past the shacks they made it known that this wasn't going to be a peaceful nature walk as they hooned past us tearing up the beach. There was also a sign on their 'Gumboot Tree' that read 'Welcome to Pieman Heads - now go home'.
Anyway we sat down on an old log and ate our lunch then walked out to the beach a few hundred metres away and before we knew it, it was time to head back to the Arcadia II to make our way back up the river to Corinna.
After arriving back, MsMun, Bella and myself went on a bush walk up to the Whyte River and back to Corinna in a loop. This was probably the best bush walk I've ever done. It felt like we were in a magical rainforest.
Here, Bella was picking up handfuls of the fallen leaves and tossing them into the air, we all loved this walk. Meanwhile Dylan stayed back at camp and played with his new friends.
