aquaponics

These lettuce and basil are growing in small pebbles...no soil. They are watered by a pump filtering water from the fish pond, it has an overflow valve and so far we haven't watered them or fertilised them at all. They are now ready to eat. This is an experimental planting, as we havent tried this before. Last year I put hydrangeas in wicking pots, large plastic buckets. They are doing well and dont need much water, all a benefit in a dry climate.

These photos were taken with the little olympus, i am really disappointed with them on the whole and will revert back to the proper camera. The colour and focus are the main problems.
