This is pretty much what's getting us all through this post-festival week at EIFF HQ...

What a strange day. Work was fine, busy, and involved some excellent news regarding The Mighty Fujiwara, whose initial one year contract has been extended by three years. Looking forward to seeing what he does next festival already!

Went to a funeral this afternoon with some other folk from work, for a former projectionist who had worked at Filmhouse for many years until he retired in 2010. He was always a very private person, and we didn't see much of him after he left, but heard last month that he had died (we're assuming from a heart attack or something similar, he'd had heart problems) and had been lying in his flat for three weeks before a concerned neighbour had called the police. The only people at the funeral apart from us were his two sisters, one of whom he hadn't been in contact with for forty years. Such an awful, sad end to a life.

Spent a lovely evening at the middleman residence, babysitting while the grown-ups went to see some comedy at The Stand. Both middleman girls were on top form, with the elder demonstrating her recorder skills and the younger reading me a story (the wonderful Lost and Found) before bed. She had also decorated a fairy cake especially for me that I've just brought home, photographed for tomorrow's blip (it's after midnight) and eaten. :-)
