Scarlet Elf Cup

My first visit to Trentham Gardens this year. It was rather grey, and uninspiring....?

At first sight I thought someone had left their orange peelings lying around. But on closer inspection, it's yet another bit of fungi!

I also bumped into a small group of twitchers. They were chasing a Red-necked Grebe. To me it looked like the Great Crested Grebe, but both have similar winter plumage.
