Fondouk el-Nejjarine

It rained today.  The first rain in Morocco since October.  It was absolutely pouring down when we sat eating our breakfast, and we discussed the likelihood of going out - we were not unhappy to have a day lazing about, just reading.

But it improved in the late morning, and we decided to have a walk to the Museum of Woodcraft.  This is housed in a restored old Caravanserai or Fondouk.

We only got slightly lost getting there, and rather more lost coming back to our Guest House.  It was well worth the 20Dh (about £1.50) entry charge.  Wonderful architecture, wood carving and stucco (close view of the stucco in extras).  There were a variety of exhibits.  The exhibits were of course only labelled in French and Arabic.  There was a bit more explanation than there had been at the museum we visited yesterday, and my limited French enabled me to understand a reasonable amount of the "blurb".  We were a little disappointed that very few of the exhibits dated back before the 20th Century.

Soon to have our final meal in Fes - we have a train journey back to Marrakesh tomorrow.
