Snow

This is the view I saw when I woke this morning. Very pretty but a bit worrying as I was concerned Arvin's bus might not be coming. Turned out not to be a problem and he happily headed out at the usual time of 8:45 leaving me a whole day of time to myself. How brilliant! We survived the holidays, actually we thrived. But I was really ready for some time to myself. And I had things to do... like a huge load of wash. But more importantly, a show to get ready to hang this coming Saturday.

I am going to have a show at the Deming Library officially starting on this coming Monday January 11th. I will be showing the new series I've been working on and a few other examples of light and shadow. The show will be called "The Play of Light." I picked out nine paintings to hang for the show. Today I painted edges and framed most of them. There were a couple that needed signing and hanging hardware. Now they are sitting in my studio ready to go. It took most of the day. The only remaining task I have is to create cards for them so people will know their titles and other information including price.

It spit snow much of the day but was not quite as cold as it has been of late. I notice that the starlings are back at the feeders. They had been absent for awhile. I am not really fond of them as they are such messy birds. But what wonderful colors they have in their feathers.

When Arvin got home we headed out to his new eye doctor, Dr. Bearden. We were in his office over an hour while he worked to refine the prescription for Arvin's glasses. He is a specialist in people with vision problems and has already helped Arvin to see better. We are having a new set of glasses made with the changes and keeping the old ones as backup. We didn't get home until almost six. We were both tired and ready for dinner and watching our taped "Downton Abbey" show from last night. I am sad that this is the last series. What a great show.
