It was the day before we all return to school or work. So we had to tick things off the list. Little jobs we said we'd do over the holidays.

Register all the new appliances to activate the guarantees.

Call one supplier to complain about the delivery of a sink which had been left outside the wrong house for a week and was broken (one of the highlights of the refurb drama).

Call the opticians for the big little one.

Remove stair carpet.

Done.

Then we went to North Berwick to look at the sea.

It was wild and very pleasing.

Sigh. Can I have another week off please?
