Happy New Year

The fireworks in Reykjavik were utterly amazing. We had been advised to stand on the hill near the church to watch them. All over the city, fireworks were going off from early evening and we could still hear them as we went to bed in the small hours. The main event started at around 11.30 and went on for over an hour. I should tell you that these weren't the back garden variety of fireworks - they were the massive ones that we usually only see in carefully orchestrated displays. I have never seen anything quite like it
