Buy cheap, buy twice...
In early November I got a bargain off the internet, two 50w LED floodlights for £34. Couldn't wait to put them up and replace my old floods that used nearly 10 times as much electricity. OK, so they were a bit tinny, had some sharp edges and only 6" of connecting flex. Buy they were very cheap. For a few weeks they survived the lashing rain and the battering gales. Then in mid-December one went on the blink - literally. Then it died. Over Christmas the other just took a fit and stayed on for 4 days then it too died. I didn't think the Chinese Made lamps would be worth returning to the Guangzhow Sweat Shop Ltd so they have been binned.
The new lamps from CEF are to MI65 standard cost 4 times the old ones and have a 2 year warranty. They are also built like brick sheds, bombproof! They were due to be fitted this afternoon but the heavens opened and the electrician couldn't be persuaded to mess around with the electricity and went home again. So I grabbed my new Manfrotto tripod and went outside to practise some rain shots. That didn't work either but it's all you're getting.
Note to the huggers in my local EA Office, I've been down to the Seaton Beck, it's overflowing onto the road and great puddles are forming, aquaplaning is going to be a problem as the rush hour traffic builds up but take comfort, the Great Crested Newts are loving it so you needn't stress yourselves.
