Trouble at Sea
And in extra.
Both from today.
Different seas :-)
Wandered down to the marina again today - water still lumpy and made an homage a Jackson Pollock. (extra). Camera still dry.
Also dropped a couple of pieces off at the framers. He's close to the City of Sunderland's Museum so we thought we'd stop in.
Main picture is by one of our local art heroes.
Clarkson Stansfield - what a brilliant observer of the sea he is. I think you can tell he spent time in the merchant navy.
This piece is called, 'The Castle of Ischia from the Mole.' and was painted between 1839 - 1841 Distressed vessels off the causeway between the island and the mainland.
It's a magnificent piece of rock -http://www.travelviaitaly.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/08/Castello-Aragonese-ischia-italy.jpg
Huge painting - about 3 x 2 metres.
I suspect I am a fairweather sailor, much as I love the sea.
