A Close Encounter

The two little chicks are finally becoming independent. Mama  no longer comes when they call and they have learned to dig into the apple by themselves -  as you can see from the grubby beak.

One of the chicks is fascinated by us and sits on the deck rail watching our movements. She is very trusting and we are able to walk right up to her. This pic is not cropped and I was standing within touching distance. Now I have my photo I am tempted to see if I can actually touch her  next time.

To get close like this is a great experience for my Grandsons and a good memory for them to take back to Germany .
