Hands (or paws)

But when you give to the needy, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, so that your giving may be in secret. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.
Matthew 6:3-4

Today is a picture of our cat Kevin, he may feature a lot in this venture!! Today's verse is about giving and doing this in secret, so the picture is showing how Kevin tucks his paws under himself when he is laying down, thereby, his right paw doesn't know what his left paw is doing. A tenuous link I know. The point of this verse is that if all you want out of life is a pat on the back then by all means shout about how much you give and hopefully someone will give you a pat on the back and say well done. But that will be the extent of your reward. If you give in secret then God sees your heart and knows your intention and He will give His blessing. It also keeps your intentions honest, you no longer give to look good and impress people, but you begin to give because you want to bring happiness, or change someone's life for the better, it stops being about you and becomes about the person receiving, this is when you see what is really needed and give this instead of what makes you look good.
