York City Art Gallery
A portrait of a young man by Robert Sewell, 1751(?) Exactly two hundred years before I was born! York City Art Gallery.
Raining outside.
I always find taking photographs of paintings in galleries to be a great challenge. You can never stand directly in front of the portrait because of direct ambient studio lighting. You cannot use flash, unless there is a low ceiling and you can bounce, or you have a reflector. The surface of the painting reflects light from as many directions. It's almost impossible, but then, there's usually a way.
