Ocean Rig Apollo

Last time i showed you a semisubmersible oil producer, this time it is also a floating unit, although a bit different design. This is a DP drillship. DP means Dynamic Positioning and that means it has no anchors to maintain on her exact position, but thrusters. Only kept on her spot by thrusters getting their orders from computers and satellite signals, she lowers her drillstring 3000 ft down to the seafloor and starts drilling till her maximum drilling depth of 40.000 ft. Current, swell, thunderstorms, no matter what will try to get her from her position, the DP system has in 99,99% of all threats an effective answer. This is a high tech, state of the art piece of machinery and also brandnew.
