Family

I hadn't decided where I was going to stop on my way south today- but as always I couldn't resist the wee side trip to check out the penguins at Moeraki.  Very exciting today - babies in evidence!

Dad here arrived back up the beach and stopped to have a chat to Mum, while he waited for the fish in his belly to be ready to regurgitate for baby.  Baby was waiting patiently (see first extra).  The babies are surprisingly ugly - but very robust and well fed.

When Dad felt the time was right he called baby over under a tree for dinner (see 2nd extra).  They generally feed under cover, otherwise the hovering seagulls dive bomb and steal the food right out of babies mouths.

Such a great sequence to see and have the privilege of photographing - though as always I want better and more (a clear shot of the feeding would have capped it nicely).

I also stopped (of course) at Blaze's cross.  His weed has grown and is now towering over him (see extra no. 3).
