Trees Cut Up

Noticed a trend around the campus recently: trees are being cut up. Finding this rather annoying for several reasons: (read in an indignant tone)

1. I like trees. I can't imagine what they feel when being dismembered like this, so I've decided its like having your body parts sawn-off. I think it's because I read Dahl's The Sound Machine as a child. Then again there's lots of research that show plants are more aware and receptive of their surroundings and themselves than we thought.
2. I consider this a violation of trees' rights.
3. This is a hot country. It's always hot here. The hot sun beats down all year long. Chopping trees up or down gives me the feeling that it just got hotter.
4. I like flitting from one source of shade to the next. And this particular tree is one I use on my way to a class or the cafe. I'm left shadeless.
5. Cutting trees up and/or down seems to be a fetish in this country. Grand old trees felled for no (as far as I'm concerned) reason. I wonder if I can go about lopping off the heads of those who made those decisions.
