Fireworks

It wouldn't be January 1 without my usual firework photo from the beach. The thing that amazes me about Mexican firework shows is how close one is able to get to the action. We are sitting less than 10 meters from where they are lighting the mortars. You can see our outlines on the left of the photo and the silhouette of the pyro-technician cruising down the line of tubes embedded with his lighter on the right. I was actually a bit too close this time, cutting off the tops of some of the biggest blasts, but all the better to feel the concussions as they shot into the night sky. Can't wait until next year.
