The Back of the Beach
8.0C with rain on and off all day. Very grey and dull. Wind to 25 mph with gusts to 39 mph during the day.
As expected it was too dull and rainy to feel like a visit to St Andrews or even to Arbroath harbour.
Before lunch, and hoping we had picked one of the lulls in the rain, Apothecary7 and I took Maeve the Deerhound for a walk. A coat day for Maeve today. We went down the road to the shore and the over the road bridge over the railway to have a look at the sea at Westhaven beach. There was some water running off the field and onto the road to the shore. It was very blustery at the beach. The tide was out.
We walked along East Row to the fishermen's huts and pottered about looking for ideas for a photo or two. I have chosen one looking along the back of the beach towards Carnoustie. As you might imagine all the boats are out of the water and up off the beach. The dinghies are upside down by the long dune grasses, and all the creels and floats are packed away.
We went back along East Row then walked along to Carnoustie railway station before turning up to the High Street and rejoining our usual loop up the main road then turning along for home. As we turned the second last corner Maeve gave up plodding along behind and took the lead to make sure we knew she really wanted to be home in the warm and dry.
