The Howk
The "Cold Beck" runs through this limestone gorge just above Caldbeck, our village, which took its name from this river. The building is the remains of an old bobbin mill, once driven by the largest waterwheel in England, which produced wooden bobbins for the textile mills of the north of England from 1857 onwards.
