Please help save blip
* I've just reread this and realise it sounds like a leaving speech or something - if I were you just look at Tilly and admire her feathery beauty, even though she has eaten my carefully arranged seed heart! She will never be fed as well if blip were to go! *
Having read so many blippers journals today I don't quite know what to say ( don't even come back at me on that tedwin or beewriter! You are far too much a "Lady" G to even go there!?!) - at times what some have written have made me tearful. Blip is about photographs, but more than that peoples lives, and there is nothing more compelling than that. The interest, kindness, laughter and fundamentally the sharing of the everyday whether it be mundane, monumental, mirthful or mournful is truly priceless.
I had already bought a new digital camera in my last week before ending with work, intending to pursue those things I always had an interest in but had neither the time nor energy for. As a young retiree I was prepared for a back lash after the initial euphoria wore of - but I think thanks to blip it hasn't happened! A friend mentioned it and so I began life as a blipper! It took me a while to realise the writing opportunity that came with the photographic pursuit of a blip and improved skills - but once I did there was no stopping me! So blip has charted my personal highs and lows, and most unexpectedly and delightfully brought new friendships into my life in so many ways, one even moved down here to be nearer me - joking Gilesey! My first follower mydartmoorwalks, was also my first blipmeet! He has led me to the moors and the camera club with the help of Gilesey and I have met the wonderful AH14, D and Roly. I can't mention all I follow and those who follow me, but those times when blip was threatened or went through it's own blip,I felt the loss of your lives in my life. As regards my life it's strange to think perfect "strangers" or rather "blipfriends" know more of my daily life than a lot of my friends!
So, so many blippers are inspirational in their photography on a daily basis, yet everyone has their blip day where everything comes together through skill, eye and often just chance! Just as inspirational are the stories behind the blip, even if the blip itself would not win prizes, the words and story of the blipper would.
It really doesn't matter what blip was, what was lost in the alliance with Polaroid, it is about what has made it so compelling for people and what it can be - a site owned by the community, reflecting the community.I'm no doubt preaching to the converted, but just in case!Pledge here!
