The power of the floods, Elland

Walked along the canal bank to Elland. The road into the town had been shut due to damage to the bridge. The power of the flood water was still evident even though the flood waters had gone. The bridge has been damaged and the barges had been lifted and dumped on dry land and in some cases sunk like toy boats on the edge of the bath tub.The force of the water flowing along the canal from the river upstream must have been tremendous. Local houses and businesses were seriously effected too. Not a happy new year yet for some people it will have to wait.
