A New Year Begins.

As the fireworks explode over Edinburgh Castle against teh backdrop of the constellation Orion, 2016 begins not only with the rising last-quarter Moon in conjunction with bright Jupiter, but also with a strikingly phosphorescent display of the Aurora Borealis stretching across the northern horizon.

Hopefully good portents for the year to come.
