Between fen and mountains

Blip forever

Today I am adding my voice to all those who want to save Blipfoto.  I thought the most appropriate way, as possibly the only working clock restorer in the community (I hope there are more out there!), would be with some old horological tools.  So in case you are wondering, there is a round file, the top and bottom of a small parts pot, a pivot and smoothing file and half its case, a bell washer and an old imperial micrometer.

Blip means a lot to me.  It takes time and commitment but it has something unique that in my opinion is unavailable elsewhere on social media.  The combination of the photograph and the journal allows me to indulge a hobby and record my life.  More importantly, it allows me to engage with other people who share this desire and to develop friendships. The warmth and camaraderie of this community is tangible. I have had moments of great joy that I have recorded on blip but also some more difficult times. That is life.  I am really grateful for the support and encouragement I receive in all circumstances.  I do not have the impression that the friendships formed on Blip are vacuous or unreal and this has been born out on blip meets I have been involved with.  Only geography prevents me doing more of these but I have an idea forming that I may take a break sometime and to a round Britain tour and maybe even Europe, to try to meet more of the people in this community.  If you are interested in being included on a future route, let me know!

It would be a tragedy if this community were to fold.  I therefore urge you to join me in pledging the financial support necessary to keep things going.  Details can be found at https://www.blipfuture.com.  No money is taken at this point.

Happy New Year to you all.
