Going up in flames

We spent New Year's eve with friends who have a great balcony view over the surrounding area - a good skyline view is useful for German Silvester celebrations because pretty much everyone buys armloads of fireworks and then spends the first hour* of the new year lighting up the sky (and scaring all the dogs).

We'd left Logan in the cellar with the darts on the tv, where we found him on our return some six hours later, although he couldn't tell us the result...

* yes, the fireworks do go on that long.
