The Poppy Line
The North Norfolk Railway is run by volunteers and covers a five and a half mile line from Holt to Sheringham. It is also known as The Poppy Line as a Victorian journalist who, amazed at the number of poppies he saw, wrote about the area in his column and called it his 'Poppy-land'.
G, M and I took a steam train in to Sheringham and back today, with sherry and mince pies served on the way back - very civilised! We had a lovely walk down the promenade in Sheringham, and a lovely lunch, before heading back. You can see GracieG's photos of Sheringham at https://www.blipfoto.com/entry/2129296209339221580
I thought I'd post a sepia of the train at Holt on its return, with a colour shot as an extra of it arriving at Holt in the morning, with the water tower and signal box, A delightful day!
