Blooms in December

My friend Barbara, who is a biologist and knows about such things, that there are 45 different species of plants in flower in her garden (including 'weeds') and that that has never happened in December before. I haven't counted what is in flower in our garden but there are a lot, including this but I have no idea what it is. Maybe someone knows. I also heard today that the temperature in the North Pole is above freezing due to El Niño. All very worrying, makes you wonder what the next year will bring. But let's be optimistic!
