"Would You Like A Children's Menu?"

It's always an adventure dining out with Kate. As she was back from college we took her to Mangia e Bevi for dinner.

We asked for a table for 3 and the waitress asked if we'd like a children's menu. We were a bit puzzled, but said no. "Crayons?". "Er, no thanks".

When we sat down I asked Kate if she knew the hostess, thinking they had probably been at school together and were joking around. Apparently not.

Our waitress came over and asked if we wanted drinks and Kate ordered a glass of wine, and produced her ID. The waitress looked like she wanted the floor to swallow her up. "OMG", she said, "They asked you if you wanted the children's menu for under 10s and you are 21 and old enough to drink wine. OMG. I am sooooo sorry".

I did point out that when she is 40 she will enjoy being mistaken for 30!

The picture? It's Kate's dinner, the special of the month, half a roasted cornish hen served with asparagus, mashed potatoes and a lemon sauce. It was delicious, because I sneaked a bit!!!!
