The rain, late in arriving, is welcome in Asturias right now, unlike the north of England.

The region has had a week of forest fires, over a hundred in total, which have destroyed homes and cost the life of  frefighting pilot when his helicopter crashed into a hillside.


The fires are a result of unseasonably warm temperatures, strong south winds and lack of rain.

So here's wishing a dry spell for the UK and a wet one for Asturias.
